“Brian certainly has the tools and ability to play overseas at the next level.  He has the size and versatility to score from anywhere on the court.  He is an excellent long range shooter and if a defender tries to crowd him on the perimeter he has the ability to go by him and get to the basket.  Brian is a real competitor and a player that any coach would want on his roster.”

“Brian is a tremendous individual, who played an invaluable role on our team for the past 4 years. He has unparalleled work ethic and is a leader both on and off the court. Throughout his career, he worked on every aspect of his basketball game to become the complete player he is today. His size combined with his perimeter skills make him tough to defend for any team. He has the ability to drive, shoot or post up. Brian has a fantastic understanding of basketball both offensively and defensively. He understands basketball concepts and always puts his team before himself.”

I would like this letter to serve as a letter of recommendation for Brian Davison.  It is my professional opinion that Brian is qualified and deserving of any professional position, playing or otherwise that he is pursuing.  I have had the opportunity to know Brian well during the past two years and believe the following to be an accurate assessment of both the person and his talents.

As the head women’s basketball coach at Brevard College, I had observed Brian closely as a player in the men’s basketball program at Brevard.  I also had the opportunity to get to know Brian in the summer of ’06 when he traveled with a men’s all-star team playing in Italy at the same time I toured with a women’s team. During this time, we have had numerous opportunities to discuss the duties and responsibilities affiliated with coaching, teaching and working in a professional environment.  I have found Brian to be intelligent and articulate.  He is knowledgeable about basketball, yet is always willing to learn more.

As a player Brian was a hard worker and a good leader.  He was trusted as a good teammate by the other players and trusted by his coaching staff as a believer in their system. I have witnessed Brian rise to the occasion to make big shots or get important stops in close games but above all he has always been willing to do whatever was asked of him so the team could be successful.  As a student, I had the chance to observe Brian from a distance and from all accounts he excelled in the classroom.  I have found Brian to be a caring person whose loyalties to Brevard College have been unsurpassed. From conversations with his head coach Mike Jones and from everything I have observed Brian has always met or exceeded expectations as a player and he has always represented the University, the men’s basketball program and himself in the highest manner possible.

It is for these aforementioned reasons that I recommend Brian Davison for your closest consideration.  If I can be of further assistance, please call me at (828) 884-8241 (Office) or at (828) 553-7227 (Cell).

Coach Ron Holmes, McMurry University (NCAA D3)

My name is Ron Holmes and I am the head men’s basketball coach at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. I have been coaching basketball for thirty years, eighteen of which have been as the head coach at McMurry.
I had the pleasure of meeting and coaching Brian Davison last summer (07) in Italy representing the USA in a series of games versus competition from various teams in Italy. My time spent with Brian on the court was intense due to the fact that we did not know each other and had to adjust “on the run” as it were. We traveled, slept, ate, and played like winners for two weeks and Brian’s efforts were met and exceeded my expectations. I found him to be a very aggressive and passionate player when he suited up. Off the court, he was an absolute gentleman.

A big part of the overseas experience is how one conducts themselves and Brian was beyond reproach. I found him to be very trustworthy and prompt with regard to departures for excursions or preparing for a game.
He has the skills to play inside or outside although I feel his strength is outside as a perimeter player. Brian can shoot the ball very well and has the heart to play excellent defense.
My hope is that you will give him very strong consideration and allow him to show you how he can help your team. I don’t think you can go wrong with Brian.

Brain Davison, a systematic thinker and good communicator, is a mature young man with a great deal of presence, who will bring intelligence and professionalism into any opportunities.

As his Major Coordinator, his academic advisor, and the Division Chair for his three years, I observed a thoughtful and thorough student.  Brian is energetic and creative and demonstrates his intelligence in a variety of ways.  His skills and their applications, as well as his interpretations of readings and observations, show intuitive skills and capacities for critical thinking.  His interest in education is demonstrated in the depth and breadth of courses he completed for a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Business with an emphasis in Sport Management. He has consistent academic success during his four years, taking seriously preparation and participation.  Also, he created learning opportunities for himself outside of the classroom.

He is well organized and demonstrates this skill not only in his own work but in activities outside of the classroom.  He stepped naturally into leadership roles with other students.  His leadership and academic motivation are illustrated in his participation on the intercollegiate basketball team.  Brian is notable as a self-starter as well as a team member.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Brian Davison since he was two years old. He is a close personal friend of our son, Dan. Brian has grown into a young man of impeccable character. He has set high goals and expectations for himself. Once set, he is driven to accomplish them.

One goal Brian has set for himself is to excel in college. This includes both academically and on the basketball court. His determination is contagious! Brian devotes many long hours to conditioning and honing his basketball skills. He takes initiative to follow through with his goals. Additionally, Brian has been a dedicated student throughout his schooling. Both in the classroom and on the court, he seeks out advice and assistance in order to improve.

Brian has been able to resist peer pressure and temptations throughout his adolescence. He has made choices that were not always easy for a teenager and college student. Through his determination to succeed he has chosen a path of no drugs or alcohol. He has set an example for others. Loyal, true, steadfast are adjectives that describe Brian well. Speaking as a parent, my son could not have chosen a better friend

Without reservations, I can attest that Brian Davison is a young man that will dedicate himself to the task at hand and conduct himself in an exemplary manner.

My Goals/Aspiration:

My aspiration as a basketball player is to further my career by playing overseas for a professional team/club. With playing overseas, I would like to play for about five to six years and make a big contribution on the team I am belong to, on and off the court. I have reached all of my goals set so far as a basketball player and I know with my work ethic, determination, and skills I can play professionally overseas and make a huge contribution offensively, defensively and off the court as well as a role model for the game of basketball and the organization I play for.

My aspirations for life after basketball is to become a College basketball coach. I would like to coach a Mid-Major NCAA Division 1 program. I believe with the same attributes and attitude I have as being a player, I can use for becoming a coach. I believe with the experience that I will get from playing overseas will help me drastically when becoming a coach. Almost all of my aspirations have basketball in them because I love the game of basketball and I want to always be a part of it.
